About Us

What we do, and who does it?

We design, create and take care of beautiful outside spaces! This includes complete garden design and build, pond and swimming pool design and construction, bespoke garden buildings, excellent aftercare and maintenance services, full estate management and ongoing improvement.

Our team consists of creative individuals with diverse skillsets, dedicated to our excellent tailored service. We have a small, tightknit in-house team with the core skills required to achieve excellence in our field. We have worked hard over the years on establishing great relationships and work collaboratively with both designers and craftspeople who are all at the top of their game.

This enables us to concentrate on what we are really great at and rely on specialists in several areas to ensure that we create absolutely stunning outside spaces to the highest quality possible. We put a tailored team together for each of our projects and draft in experts from our trusted network, providing a complete and managed service from design, through construction and onto aftercare.

You can meet our core team below and learn what each of us specialise in. Find out more about our collaborative network on our ‘collaborations’ page.

Libby Eves is our lovely Office Manager and will more than likely be your first point of contact. She’s always on hand to help and provides full office support to our team and customers. Libby also runs the maintenance side of the business and generally makes sure everything is running as it should! Please do call the office and speak with Libby if you have any questions or enquiries and she will be more than happy to help!

Joe Barnes is our soft landscaping specialist and has been with us since early 2016.
Joe started as part of our maintenance team and through this developed a great knowledge of plants and horticulture. He has since moved into our landscaping team and is now the man who heads up and organises our planting, turfing, soil preparation and suchlike! Joe enjoys drawing and artwork in his spare time and has a keen eye for design. He has studied planting and planting design, completing two distance learning courses in the last couple of years.

Danny Twist is our hard landscaping specialist and bricklayer and has been working with us on and off since 2016.

Danny trained as a bricklayer when he left school and started working with local building firms. After retraining as a chef working in kitchens for a number of years, and working snowboarding seasons, he found landscaping! He is now a very busy member of the team and makes sure all of our hard landscaping and brickwork is carried out to perfection!

Matthew Ford-Thomas is our lead Gardener and has been with Champain Landscapes since early 2019. Matt studied horticulture at Writtle College and has been gardening for over 10 years. Throughout his career Matt has managed a variety of gardens from large country estates to small private properties and this means his knowledge is vast and well rounded. Matt manages all of the properties that we maintain and is a crucial member of the team, ensuring that the gardens we are so proud of continue to flourish and bring our clients joy all year round!

Louis Champain started Champain Landscapes in 2013 in response to a growing need for designed gardens in and around Suffolk. Louis has developed a strong understanding of the gardening and construction world and has worked on a vast range of projects, growing a strong team over the years. Louis has a keen eye for design – having studied product design previously – and enjoys having a creative input in our projects. Working with our in-house team, the best garden designers and our trusted network of expert subcontractors, he facilitates the design and build of our client’s gardens, features and structures. Amongst other things, Louis trained for a while as a cabinet maker and is often on site helping with our builds.

Part of our collaborative network is Brampton Willows, which Louis recently acquired and now runs alongside Champain Landscapes. You can learn more about what they do by visiting www.bramptonwillows.co.uk

Sam Clinch is our General Manager and a long standing employee of Champain Landscapes. Sam joined the team back in 2014 after recently moving to Suffolk from Wales. Sams expertise lie in groundworks and heavy plant. He loves landscaping on a big scale and specialises in things such as large wildlife ponds, mature tree planting and land drainage.

Sam has managed many of our large landscaping projects, one of which was a large garden redesign in Dunwich which features frequently on the website – one of our best pieces of work to date!

Jordan Duncan is our landscaping labourer and newest recruit. He throws himself into every project with great enthusiasm and energy and is a crucial member of the team. Jordan is solidifying a good general knowledge of landscape construction and can turn his hand to most things, working with the more senior members of the team to build excellent gardens!
